Oleander, with its spectacular flowers and deep green foliage, is ideal for sunny gardens and patios. It prefers fertile, well-drained soils and should be watered regularly but not excessively. Because it rarely grows over three metres, this species is known as the dwarf Cavendish. Although it doesn’t grow as tall as the houseplant, it is still a very large plant. Its leaves are huge, so it’s good for homes with lots of space.

It likes bright light and can tolerate some direct sunlight during the day. Its soil should be allowed to dry out a little between waterings, but you should still mist it frequently as its huge leaves need a lot of moisture. You can help it grow healthily by feeding it once a month in spring and summer with liquid fertiliser.

Please note that despite its name, this banana tree won’t bear fruit.

Hydrangea lovers know that they are among the most disease and pest resistant, making them easy to grow. Hydrangea is a versatile plant. It works just as well in a colourful garden as it does in a minimalist setting. Most varieties come from Asia, but they are equally at home here.

Hydrangeas evaporate a lot of water, so make sure you give them plenty, a small drink of water every day, preferably soft water. It does best in moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. Avoid southern exposure, especially if the soil is very dry. They tend to wilt in hot weather, so keep them well-watered during hot spells in summer.

The best time to plant hydrangeas is in spring. You won’t have to worry about frost and the roots will be better able to take hold. However, you can plant hydrangeas in both summer and autumn. Just be sure to give them plenty of water immediately after planting and on hot days.

Olive trees complement modern interiors with their silvery, sage-coloured foliage. They exude sophistication as if you’ve recently added a touch of Tuscany to your living space. Native to the Mediterranean, they are particularly suited to drier air (such as that found in most homes).

Depending on the pot you choose and the variety of olive trees, your plant can grow up to 2 metres tall. Olive trees should not be watered very often. Water until the soil is soaked, but not until the surface is 2-3cm dry.

In spring, dry or diseased branches can be pruned back to promote harmonious growth and encourage new growth. Enjoy a bit of Provence in your home or garden thanks to the beautiful foliage of the olive tree.

English ivy (Hedera helix variegata) is one of the most common ivy species and the most widely grown. It is very easy to grow, both in pots and as an ornamental outdoor plant. You’ve probably noticed it on the outside of buildings and houses that look like entrances to a secret botanical world.

Potted ivy requires much less water. Before watering, check the consistency of the substrate, which should be loose but dry on the surface. Be careful not to overwater. For optimal lighting, position the plant near a window to ensure it receives abundant light without direct exposure. Poor lighting can reduce the number of leaves and cause them to discolour.

Indoors, it can be placed on a shelf or taller plant stand to allow it to create that eye-catching cascade of creamy white variegated green leaves. It tends to grow vigorously, providing quick results for those who want to transform their room or garden in a short space of time.
